Abstract

The bearing characteristics of heavy load support platforms with redundant multibranch chains were investigated to resolve the problem of heavy load support platforms that are subject to external bias loads. First, a mechanical model of the platform was built. On the basis of the model, the relationship between the force transmission performance of the platform and the layout parameters for each chain was discussed in detail. By arranging the different positions of each chain, the heavy load platform with each chain holding the same carrying capacity was found. On the ground of the method of changing the layout parameters of the chains, two regulation methods for levelling the platform were proposed. Lastly, these methods were verified through virtual prototype modelling. Results provide theoretical foundation and support to the design of heavy load platforms with automatic levelling.
