Abstract

The main theme of this paper is design and implementation of multiple-choice tests as a part of a computer-aided learning system in teaching mathematics on the undergraduate level, using free open-source software components. We are focusing on web-based assessment management software that is designed to diagnose stu- dents’ progress and relate assessment with classroom instructions. Multiple-choice tests are used as self-evaluation, compulsory assign- ments, and mid-term exams. Our experience indicates that the assessment system is a very good tool for predicting overall stu- dent performance as well as for assisting the lecturer in analyzing students’ level of knowledge and understanding.
