Abstract

This paper presents a fuzzy wavelet-based technique for a novel image denoising engine. This technique profits from: wavelet basis ability to reinforce image characteristics; and fuzzy logic decision process that overcomes ambiguity or vagueness between noisy and healthy pixels. Healthy pixels will remain unchanged, while noisy pixels are to be corrected. Furthermore, a noise removal algorithm- based on statistical analysis and a proposed prediction idea-is introduced. Results are shown; comparisons with other existing methods show better execution time, less complexity, and better peak signal to noise ratios.
