Abstract

This paper proposes a new and simplified photovoltaic array configuration, which eliminates multiple peaks in its power–voltage characteristic under all partial shading conditions, thus permitting the use of simple MPPT techniques. Unlike all the state-of-the-art methods, this technique is applicable to PV arrays of all dimensions. It enhances the output power and also reduces the line length. In this proposed configuration, the modules are arranged in a sequence in anti-clock direction. Thus, the arrangement of modules is very simple and does not require any complicated algorithm. Through extensive simulation and experimental results, the efficacy and superiority of the proposed configuration over the state-of-the-art methods are established.
