Fuzzy Stabilizer for Unified Power Flow Controller

In this paper the authors propose a novel fuzzy stabilizer for Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) in order to damp the power system electromechanical oscillations. The control input signals of the proposed stabilizer are the UPFC dc-link voltage deviation and an opportune machine speed deviation. The interconnected model of multi-machine power system with UPFC installed, previously proposed by the authors, has been used to choose that speed deviation. Some significant numerical results on the IEEE three-machine power system illustrate the improvements provided by the proposed fuzzy controller on power system dynamic performance.
