Design of a Novel Tag Antenna with EBG Structure for RFID of Metallic Object

The novel tag antennas that can be attached to the metallic plate for radio frequency identification applications are purposed. In order to reduce the influence of the metal objects, the EBG structure on the back of the antenna is used. In this way, the gain of the tag antenna can be improved and the effects of metallic plate can be reduced. Finally, the tag antenna is fabricated and measured to verify our design. Good agreement is obtained.
