Role of Information Technology in Crop Productivity (Case Study: Wheat Farmers Ahwaz Township, Iran

Abstract

The main objective of this article is to present the results of a study done about the analysis using information technology by wheat farmers in Ahwaz township of Iran. A questionnaire was developed to analysis application and perception of farmers regarding the appropriateness of Information Technology. The questionnaire was distributed to (n=181) farmers. Data collected were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Appropriate statistical procedures for description (frequencies, percent, means, and standard deviations) were used. The main results of the study revealed that there was a significant relationship between the IT skill and knowledge, income , social participation , the extend of information seeking motivation, level of job satisfaction and level of education with perception of farmers regarding the appropriateness of Information Technology. Level of education, IT knowledge, social participation, level of job satisfaction, income and the extend of information seeking motivation may well explain for 81% (R²=0.810) changes in perception of farmers regarding the appropriateness of Information Technology to improve the crop productivity.
